How we clean

From job site to move-in ready

Four steps built for glass the trades just finished with.

  1. 01

    Inspect every pane

We map the stickers, paint and mortar on each window and check new tempered glass before anything touches it.

  2. 02

    Lift the residue

Labels come off, then adhesive, overspray and mortar are worked loose with cleaning solution and #0000 steel wool.

  3. 03

    Wash and squeegee

A T-bar mop washes away the loosened grit, and each pane is pulled dry edge to edge.

  4. 04

    Clear tracks and frames

Drywall dust and sawdust come out of the tracks, frames and seals get wiped, and the whole window gets a last look.

After the build

Every trade leaves something on the glass. Here is how each one comes off.

A new home is finished on paper long before its windows are. By closing day, the glass has been through framers, masons, painters, drywall crews and landscapers, and each of them left a little behind: a manufacturer's label here, a fan of paint overspray there, gray specks of mortar along the bottom edge.

Post-construction window cleaning takes all of that off the glass, the frames and the tracks, so the first time you look out your new windows, you actually see the view. Here's what we find on new-build glass, how we remove each kind of residue carefully, and when to book.

What's left on new-construction windows, and how we remove it

Labels and stickers

Most new windows ship with an energy-rating label or a manufacturer sticker on the glass. Peeling it is the easy part. The adhesive that stays behind is what catches dust and smears in the sun. We peel the label, then work the leftover glue off with cleaning solution and #0000 steel wool until the pane is smooth.

Paint overspray and drips

Sprayed trim and siding drift onto nearby glass as a fine mist of dots, and brushed paint leaves the occasional drip on a frame edge. Both come off with patient work using #0000 steel wool and solution.

Mortar, stucco and grout specks

Brick and stone homes are common across North Texas, and masonry work flicks small, hard specks onto the windows below. They look like grit but cling like cement. We loosen each one on the glass rather than scraping it across the pane, so it doesn't drag.

Drywall dust and sawdust

Fine white dust settles on every surface during interior finishing, then drifts down into the window tracks, where it packs into corners. It's the residue homeowners notice last and complain about most, usually the first time they open a window.

Dried sprinkler spots on fresh landscaping

New sod gets watered heavily, and the spray hits the lower windows. Light spotting comes off in the clean. For heavy mineral buildup, see hard water stain removal.

How we clean new glass without scratching it

New-construction cleaning is where careless window work does real damage, so our approach is built around caution.

  • Only #0000 steel wool. It's the finest grade made and the standard professional tool for glass. We use quad-zero every time, never a coarser grade.
  • Always on wet glass. Cleaning solution goes on first, so the steel wool glides and lifts residue instead of grinding it.
  • A check for tempered glass. Newer tempered panes can carry tiny bits of factory debris on their surface. We look for it during the walk-through, before we start detailing that glass.
  • Loosen, then rinse. Grit gets lifted and washed off, never pushed across the pane with a dry tool.

Held to the Berry Bros standard. Every new-build job ends with a check of each window in daylight. If something isn't right, call within 7 days and we'll come back and fix it free.

Tracks, frames and screens after the build

Clean glass inside a dusty frame still looks unfinished. That's why every post-construction clean includes the frames, seals and tracks, not just the panes. Tracks get special attention on a new build, because they're often packed with drywall dust, sawdust and the odd screw or wood chip. Our window track cleaning page shows that part of the job up close.

If the screens are already installed, they're part of the clean as well: brushed, refreshed and wiped down. Learn more on our window screen cleaning page.

Construction mess doesn't stay on one side of the glass. If you'd like the insides of the windows done during the same visit, mention it on your quote, and see interior window cleaning for how we protect the floors and trim in a brand-new house.

For homeowners moving in, and for builders and realtors

New-home buyers

A builder's final clean can skip the windows or give them a quick wipe that leaves the labels and specks. Booking your own post-construction clean means the glass is right before your furniture, rugs and boxes fill the house.

Builders

Clean glass is part of a clean walkthrough. A buyer standing in the living room will notice overspray on the back windows before they notice the trim work. Builders can request a quote for a single home or for several.

Realtors

Listing photos and showings go better when the windows disappear. For new builds on the market, a post-construction clean makes every room look brighter in photos and in person.

When to book: the best time for a post-construction clean

  1. After the last trade leaves. Wait until painting, drywall touch-ups and exterior masonry are finished. Cleaning before then means cleaning twice.
  2. After landscaping, if you can. Sod and bed work kick up a lot of dirt onto lower glass.
  3. Before move-in day. Empty rooms make it easy to reach every window and every track.

If you've already moved in, it's not too late. The residue doesn't go anywhere on its own, and we can work around your furniture.

New-build neighborhoods we serve

We're locally owned in Justin, surrounded by some of the fastest-growing communities in North Texas. We clean new homes across the area, including:

  • Pecan Square, Harvest and Canyon Falls in and around Northlake

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can you remove window stickers and paint without scratching the glass?

Yes. We work labels, adhesive and paint off with cleaning solution and #0000 steel wool, the finest grade made, always on wet glass. We also check newer tempered glass for factory debris before detailing it.

When should I book: before or after move-in?

Ideally after the last trade and the landscapers are done, but before your furniture arrives. If you have already moved in, we can still clean everything and work around your things.

Do you clean the tracks full of construction dust?

Yes. Frames, seals and tracks are part of every clean. On new builds, tracks are often packed with drywall dust and sawdust, and we clear them out.

Do you work with builders and realtors?

Yes. Builders and realtors can request a quote for one home or for several. We can also send proof of insurance on request.

Is post-construction cleaning priced differently than a regular cleaning?

Every job is quoted individually. A post-construction clean usually takes more time per window because of labels, paint and mortar, so the quote reflects how much residue is on the glass. Our window cleaning cost guide explains what drives pricing.

Can you get mortar and stucco specks off the windows?

In most cases, yes. We soften and lift each speck with solution and #0000 steel wool instead of dragging it across the glass.

Should I keep cleaning my windows after the post-construction clean?

New neighborhoods stay dusty while nearby homes are built. A Monthly or Quarterly plan keeps the glass ahead of that dust and saves on every visit.
